Parents are stressed daily because so many kids live for electronics, they seem to have trouble concentrating, following instructions and often times rather difficult for parents to cope with during school days and during family time at home.

Archery is a great choice for parents who really want to break the electronic habits of their children. Healthy sport, yes because they are outdoors, learning to concentrate and most of all making great new friends.

Once they become active archers, they're just too busy and don't have time to sit at home behind a computer playing games. To Wrap or Not to Wrap

Wraps have saved many arrows out in the woods, but how could that be?  If you're in to saving money, you don't want to lose arrows every time you go hunting. So many archers love the bright colored wraps. Wraps help the archer find his lost arrows. 

Wraps definitely make it easier to find those elusive arrows who snuggle up in a bunch of weeds or nestle down in a bunch of tall grass.  Some archers just like to add a bit of color on their arrows and others use wraps just to help them locate lost arrows. 

Yet there are a few archers out there who don't like bright colored wraps, they'd rather lose arrows then wrap their arrows with bright colored wraps. Each to his own, but if this is your first year to go hunting, I'd bet that you'd be might happy wrapping your arrows with bright colored wraps.

From Little Boy to Grown Man

Meet Clint my grandson, he's the owner of "SILENT FLIGHT ARCHERY ARIZONA

I was blessed with getting to help raise Clint because both parents had jobs that lasted many hours a day. So it was just me and this tiny little boy and I do mean tiny (except his hands) and I always thought to myself if he grows into those hands he's going to be big, really big.  

I nicknamed him Boone because he loved everything about the outdoors and would have been perfectly comfortable if he lived back in Daniel Boon's time. His favorite TV program was the "Crocodile Hunter" which was Steve Irwin's nickname; Clint learned so much from Steve's TV show that he was almost an expert on amphibians, wild animals and insects. 

Clint was the little inventor in our family, he always had a project that he was working on and of course I was the go to person when he needed encouragement and a live audience to observe his new inventions.  

One thing that he perfected which actually took days, months and about a year was a boomerang that would come back to him. I thought this was a lost cause, but one day while I was watching him throw his boomerang to my surprise it came right back to him. I threw it and it came right back to me too!  

After watching the movie, Crocodile Dundee, he decided that he had to perfect the art of playing a "Didgeridoo." This is a hollow piece of wood which is a wind instrument that is still used in Northern Australia. 

This took hours of practice and sometimes I wished I had ear plugs because the sounds that he made with his Didgeridoo were anything but pleasant to one'sears. He never gave up and eventually he mastered the art of playing a "Didgeridoo."

Funny ending to the Didgeridoo story, I took Clint back to Louisville Ky, one year to visit his great grandmother. I discovered an outback zoo and took Clint to see this zoo. There was a special show going on and I wanted Clint to meet a real Australian.

 Clint and I sat quietly listening to this man talk about Australia. All at once he walked over and picked up a Didgeridoo. He invited adults and children up to see if they could play this instrument and no one could.

Sitting in the audience I kept pointing to Clint and the man finally asked Clint if he'd like to try it.  Clint was very bashful but with my encouragement he walked up to the stage and immediately played the "Didgeridoo,"  the audience went wild and the man putting the show on just stood there shaking his head.  He said that was the first time he'd ever had anyone who could play this wind instrument.  

So fast track to the present, this scrawny little kid is 6'3" and weighs 145 pounds. His most recent invention is bow silencers. Clint created 3 different size jigs (Which he patented) so an archer could have his or her choice of small medium and large bow silencers.

Brief History of Archery

Finland England hosted the first competition around 1583 but during this same time gun powder was discovered, so bow and arrows were no longer weapon of choice. 

It's anyone's guess when archery actually started but some take us as far back as the stone age. Egyptians used the bow and arrow for fighting wars and putting food on the table starting around 

20,000 BC.

History shows archery became popular in China during the different dynasty changes and then seeped into Asia. 

Then over a period of years archery has become one of the most watched and popular outdoor sports in America. The USA has competitions year round including many competitions for youth.  

This isn't just any old sport that has attracted a few participants here and there; this sport has millions of Americans who compete, hunt and do exhibitions. The strange thing about archery it seems to be one sport that people of all ages just love. 

A few stars to mention would be Cara Kelly is a professional 3-D archer and bowhunter. Cara started competing at a very young age (5) finishing second in the ASA Shooter of the year and a firm second in the IBO World Championships. 

John Demmer is a barebow archer and has put his hat on the top of many indoor competitions. In 2016 Brady Ellison won 2 medals in the Olympics which is no easy feat. 

21 year old Sara Lopez holds the honor of being number one longer than anyone else in the World Cup. Sara has many fans who follow her to every competition, yep she's a star. Even though she is going to medical school Sara takes time to hone her skills in archery.

The list of outstanding archers just rambles on and there's way to many to mention. But for those who love outdoor sports, it might be a good idea to give archery a shot. 

Every State in the Union has competitions going on yearly along with many businesses and organizations who teach archery. Archery just keeps growing yearly and who knows some day soon it may be our number one favorite sport.

For "Archery" enthusiasts. A young man in Arizona started a very interesting website for archers of all ages. He designed and patented jigs for making bow silencers and people from all over the Country are visiting his site.  Some buy the silencers already made and others are enjoying learning how to make their own.

I have used a variety of bow string silencers and have never been completely satisfied with what is on the market.  I have invented a bow string silencer jig, that I call the Owl Bone.

The Owl Bone can be used by any Archer to create his or her own bow string silencer in less than a minute.  It is the first of many new products to be brought to market by Silent Flight Archery.  I am committed to offer products that are made, designed and assembled 100% in the United States of America.   

The Name

The arc of an arrow is captivating, it flies straight and true with little sound at a rapid rate of speed.  Although awe inspiring, the flight of a perfectly shot arrow by a skilled archer is deadly.  There is a distinct resemblance between an arrow flying through the air towards its intended target and a Great Horned Owl soaring through the sky towards its prey.   

The Owl and the arrow take flight with almost no sound, both striking with immense power and precision.  Just as the Owl has SILENT FLIGHT, so too does my arrow.
